What is Social Networking?
Sites like FaceBook, Twitter, and MySpace, allow vast amounts of people to read and share each other's thoughts and experiences online via their personal profiles. It's like having an online diary that has the potential to be read by everybody.
What can Social Networking do for my business?
Social Networking allows you to promote yourself to literally 100's of thousands of potentially new customers that you would not normally have access to. If used properly, you can greatly improve your "Online Reputation" and prevent negative feed back from being easily seen in Google and other search engines.
What is "Online Reputation"?
Basically, it's what people are saying about you online, via blogs, social networking sites, forums and consumer reporting sites, such as "RipOffReport.com". These sites tend to show up higher in rank on search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and Ask.
Why should I care about my Online Reputation?
It is said that 1 dissatisfied customer tells 10 to 15 people. With the Internet, 1 dissatisfied customer can tell EVERYBODY via Social Networking sites.
How does RepGard repair my "Online Reputation"?
First, understand that, under normal circumstances, once a negative comment is posted on a blog, forum or any other site it will not go away unless the original poster removes it. Once these posts are found by the search engines, it will be indexed and start moving up the list in rankings and could end up on the first results page of a search engine.
Research indicates that most users do not look seriously beyond the first results page of any search done in a search engine. Normally, if they do not find what they are looking for, they modify their search criteria.
By creating and maintaining blogs, forum post's, and social networking accounts, you can potentially control the first page. A user could search for you and find your website first, then your facebook account, then your twitter account, etc, etc.
How long does it take?
It can take from 1 to 3 months to move up in rankings on the search engines.
TOPDo I have to sign a contract?
Yes, but only for the first three months. After that it will be on a month to month basis.
TOPI searched for my business name and did not find anything negative.
GREAT! Then it is the BEST time to start managing your online reputation.
If you wait until you have some bad press online, it can take 3 or more months to start moving it down in rankings.
More importantly maintaining a good online reputation is not just to prevent negative comments and postings from showing up, it's also very helpful in marketing your business name and brand. Putting your business name in a good light before it's every in a bad light is key at this point.
TOPCan I just create my own profiles and get the same results?
Yes it is possible, but not recommended. It requires search engine site submissions, constant monitoring and regular content updates on each of the sites you setup an account on, or it will not do you any good.
I recommend having at least one knowledgeable and dedicated person managing your reputation online. If not, you are most likely wasting time.
